The City of Calgary

I decided to start adding some pictures of the city of Calgary it self. I thought this might be interesting for some of the readers who have never been to Calgary before. Kind of like putting a face to a voice if you will πŸ™‚ Clearly this photo cuts off a few stories of the buildings directly in front, the reason is I was shooting it from a couple stories up.

I love that cities are retaining old buildings along side of new. Embrace the past!

Ya me too! Makes things a lot more interesting that way πŸ™‚

I really like this (maybe this is not surprising ;))! This shot is great.

Thank you :). Some cool buildings in there for sure.

I love the contrast of the new behind the old although I feel that Calgary does not always treasure its Heritage buildings and we are in danger of losing them in the name of progress. Beautiful shot.

I like the way you showed the modern building with the older architecture! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Hey no problem on stopping by! Thanks for stopping by here and for your nice comment πŸ™‚

I’d really like to visit Calgary. It sounds like it has become a more interesting city than it was 20 years ago. I’ve been reading up on things to do and see.

Hi Leslie, ya Calgary seems to be a pretty good spot these days πŸ™‚ You should definitely come and check it out some time. I suggest coming in the summer πŸ˜‰

You suggest coming in the summer…Rob, your’e such the kind type. You would know this, doing what you do (“…how does he know what I do? Turn off the lights and shut the curtains !) – did any city planning go into salvation? Pittsburgh, Seattle, Portland, Tucson…all diverted their artsy crowd to older parts of town. The arts scene brought Pitt Town back from coal mine hell. Cleveland fights it, for some reason. Just wondering, it seems to be common in the U.S. And, in case you wondered…yeah, great photo, as usual. You must be busy..haven’t seen much of you.

I’ve always liked Calgary, but it’s been at least 6 years since I’ve been there. It’s nice to see how it’s looking, and it’s looking good!

Rob, very good use of color. Especially like the varieties of blue throughout the image.
