That Shaw TV Calgary Thing

Hey guys (& gals), here is that Shaw TV thing I mentioned in the last couple posts! It was produced by Shiva Jahanshah (@ShivaJahanshah). We filmed this at the Core shopping centre downtown in Calgary. For people who have never been here, it is just what it sounds like, the major shopping centre in the downtown core :). We started off with a little interview and then they had do my thing and talk to some strangers. I think I sound a little weird in the very beginning, but what are ya gonna do haha.

Thank you so much for putting that together Shiva! We gotta get you on here one of these days ;).

Thanks for stopping by, Rob

Joe – Checking Out Calgary

I was recently contacted by a lovely woman by the name of Shiva Jahanshah about about doing a little profile on me and this blog for her TV show (“Who’s Who”). Of course I said I would be up for such a thing and we made arrangements to meet. When we met we did a quick interview and then they filmed me doing my thing talking to Strangers. Joe was the first person I had asked and he agreed to do it! Right after I was done talking to Joe, Shiva did a quick wrap up with him for the show. Here is what Joe had to say :).

1. Where are you from?
Vancouver.
Rob: Hey me too!

2. Why did you moved to Calgary of all places?
Well for school, for work, new opportunities and just for a change.

3. Do you like living in Calgary?
It’s not bad, it’s ok.

4. What is it about Calgary that you do like or don’t like?
Well it’s one tax.
Rob: It’s one tax! Ya that’s good thing 🙂

Joe: And what I don’t like, it’s that they have pretty crapy restaurants here.
Rob: Is that right! haha. Oh that’s terrible haha.

5. And how about the weather? You like the weather? Because I’m from Vancouver too, I know how it is.
I think I prefer the weather here, because it’s cold, but it doesn’t rain so I think it’s better.
Rob: REALLY! Wow, I’m amazed by that.
Joe: That’s a first right.
Rob: Ya for sure! (1st from a Vancouver Person)

6. So what do you like to do for fun?
I don’t know, everything!
Rob: Everything! haha. Nice, do you ever get out to the mountains?
Joe: Sometimes.

6. If you had to describe Calgary to some one, what would you say?
I don’t know? A lot of oil and gas money. Rich in natural resources.

7. Have you ever ridden a horse?
No.

8. Anything you’d like to add?
I don’t know, it’s not a bad city.
Rob: I agree. Thank you Joe 🙂

Michelle – No Stranger to Me

No stranger for the blog today, but my lovely wife Michelle has agreed to make a little appearance on here. The way I see it, we have been here a year and so have a lot of other people in Calgary. So why not have Michelle toss her hat into the blog while I hide out at home because it’s to dang cold too venture out into the streets to find a stranger 😉

1. Where are you from?
I am from a small town in BC, Terrace, but my family and I just moved here from Vancouver in 2012.

2. Why did you moved to Calgary of all places?
So my husband could make some fat cash!

3. Do you like living in Calgary?
I really like it here.  I’m not in love with the winter, but that is part of the package.

4. What is it about Calgary that you like?
It is a really positive city and super family friendly which is great because we have two small boys.

5. What do you like to do for fun?
Fun is usually centred around the kids: tobogganing, play centres and swimming.  When my husband and I get a chance we like to go to movies and go out for dinner.

6. If you had to describe Calgary to some one, what would you say?
Big city with a small town feel.  Everyone is really friendly

7. Have you ever ridden a horse?
Not since I was a kid.

8. Anything you’d like to add?
I’m married to the photographer and I think he’s the most amazing and talented person I know!

Politely Rejected in Public

I shot this right after being politely rejected once again haha.

Sorry it has been so long between posts! I just wanted to give you guys an update as to what is going on with the blog. First of all, I went back to BC for Christmas so I wasn’t in town to find any people to talk to and take pictures of. Second, I have tried asking people and have found my self in a “I just asked a girl on a date and she said no” type of situation haha. Only this is happening in front of loads people on public streets and such! Making it even worse lol. It has been quite unnerving to say the least.

The blog will live on! I went out again yesterday to ask some people and only found the nerve to ask one person and yet again she said no. I am sure I would have found some one if I had more than 20 minutes to get it done or I wasn’t such a coward and just asked the people I want to ask when I see them, rather than look at them with a double take and watch them walk past me and out of my life before they enter it. Oh well! haha. I have a little more spare time today, so I am going to take my camera and iphone and make sure I find at least one person downtown willing to talk to me for this blog! 🙂

Selfie

I thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get me on here and out of the way early on in the blog. This way if anyone is so inclined to know how I might answer these questions, here they shall be 😉
